Stoney Creek Environmental Committee hosts their annual Great Salmon Send of Saturday May 8, 2010. The theme for this year will be "Water for Life". All life, whether human beings, farm animals, wildlife, or vegetation, needs water to survive, but the world's water supply is under siege. Many formerly fertile parts of the world are becoming deserts. The Polar ice-caps are melting, as are many glaciers all over the world, leading to low-lying islands being submerged, and increased spring run-off and summer droughts. Much of the available water supply is polluted by industrial and agricultural run-off. We need to take care of our water supply and use it more wisely.
